Overview

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed to enhance the experience, skill and knowledge of the diver for practical application in the diving environment. This course is a prerequisite for the Rescue Diver, Dive Master and Master Diver courses.

Prerequisites

PADI Open Water Diver or to have an equivalent rating.

Minimum age

15, or 12 for junior advanced open water.

Overview

This course is designed to acquaint divers with the aspects of boat diving including terminology, layout, storage areas, off-limit areas, location of emergency equipment, boarding/debarking techniques, water entry and exit techniques and general in-water dive procedures.

PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent rating.

Overview

DFA Pro includes all elements of all DAN core first aid courses plus additional information and resources applicable to dive professionals in a variety of settings. This course is also approved by the U.S. Coast Guard as meeting the CPR and first aid requirements for captain and mate licenses. It has also been accepted by the American Camp Association for staff CPR and first aid requirements.

The Diving First Aid for Professional Divers program prepares you to address multiple problems at once and with confidence.  Even though it was created for Diving Professionals, anyone can take this course.  It combines the knowledge and skills from four courses into a single approach to managing diving emergencies.  In the first section, you will learn CPR for Adults, Children and Infants, how to use an AED, and how to provide First Aid.  How to conduct a Neurological Exam is taught in the Second Section.  The third section teaches you how to administer Oxygen in diving emergencies.  Hazardous Marine Life Injuries are taught in the Fourth Section.  Each section has skills that need to be mastered and there is an exam for each section.  Before Class, you will need to do eLearning.  Once you sign up for the Class, you will be sent an email that gives you access on the DAN site.  You will need to print out the exercise questions before you start the course so you can mark your answers.  You will  bring them to class.for review and discussion in class.

DAN's Diving First Aid (DFA) Pro course prepares you to handle the kinds of multifaceted accidents that may occur. It's an easy and fast way to take four of DAN's core first-aid courses in one program.

What You Will Learn

The DAN DFA Pro course prepares you to address multiple problems at once and with confidence. It combines the knowledge and skills from the following four courses into a single approach to managing diving emergencies:

  1. Basic Life Support: CPR and First Aid
  2. Neurological Assessment
  3. Emergency Oxygen for Scuba Diving Injuries
  4. First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries.
You will learn the content and skills of the four courses:

There is an online portion that has to be completed prior to the first day of class.  When signing up for the class, you will need to provide your email address.  The book for the class is online.  You will need to print off the exercise questions for the classroom portion of the class.

Overview

The DAN DFA Pro Instructor course qualifies you to teach the DAN Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Injuries, First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries (HML), and the Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for Scuba Diving Injuries courses. During the course, you will learn the proper teaching techniques to train individuals how to administer emergency medical oxygen, recognize and treat hazardous marine life injuries, and use and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for Scuba related injuries.

Overview

This course provides the diver with the necessary skills and knowledge for deeper diving. The dives will be non-decompression dives and none will be conducted over 130 feet.

Overview

The Divemaster course is conducted on an individual basis and denotes an individual who has a high level of personal diving skill, has instructor-level knowledge of diving theory, has had significant training in assisting instructors during training activities and is able to assume a role of responsibility for the welfare of other divers in his/her charge. 

Prerequisite certifications are Open Water, Advanced, Rescue Diver, Divemaster Prep and 40 logged dives.

Minimum age is 18.

As an Emergency First Response Instructor, you can teach CPR and first aid to others so they can be prepared for an emergency. Gain experience in how to structure learning, the requirements of performance based training and your role as the instructor in the learning environment for teaching CPR and first aid. You also learn how to motivate students, evaluate student knowledge, present course content effectively, become proficient in developing students' hands-on skills practice sessions, and are taught how to present an effective scenario-based learning experience.  Once again this program is now covered by Tuition Assistance.

You may be able to earn college credit for the Emergency First Response Instructor Course.

The PADI Equipment Specialist course is designed to be an introduction to new types of equipment and to familiarize divers with routine care and maintenance procedures as well as scuba equipment storage recommendations.  You will be shown how to overcome some common equipment problems and will be offered equipment configuration suggestions. 

NOTE: This is not an equipment repair certification course.

The PADI Full Face course is designed to educate divers about the use of Full Face Masks, with emphasis on the AGA Mask and the Ocean Reef Masks. This program will introduce the participants to Full Face Masks and the use of underwater communication equipment.

Overview

The Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program is one of two distinct components of PADI’s Instructor Development Course (IDC)—the core of PADI Instructor training. The first portion is the Assistant Instructor course followed by the Open Water Scuba Instructor program. The OWSI program is a minimum of six days. It introduces you to the entire PADI System of diver education and concentrates on further developing your abilities as a professional dive educator.

Overview

The Lionfish Population Control course is a PADI Distinctive Specialty that was created to give the necessary skills and knowledge to capture lionfish. The course consists of lectures and collecting dives. The student will develop an understanding of the lionfish, how to live collect and transport back to shore, how to spear lionfish, dive planning, and special equipment requirements.

Overview

This course is designed to give the necessary skills and knowledge for diving with Enriched Air Nitrox. The course consists of a minimum of four hours of lectures and classroom exercises. The student will develop a working knowledge of Enriched Air Nitrox, physiological aspects of breathing oxygen at elevated partical pressures, computation of equivalent air depths, use of dive tables, oxygen analysis, dive planning, and special equipment requirements.  The Class is schuled from 8am - 5 pm.

Prerequisite

PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent rating.

Overview

The PADI Open Water course is designed to provide the student with the basic knowledge and skills to safely gain limited experience in the diving environment under favorable conditions. We recommend that the newly qualified SCUBA diver limit diving to calm, shallow waters with an experienced buddy and engage in special diving activities only after qualifying through training for the particular activity.

Minimum Age

15 for an Open Water certification (People 12 to 15 years old receive a Junior Open Water Certification.)

Class Description

Training is divided into 8 major categories:

  • Diving Equipment
  • Medical Aspects
  • Diving Physics
  • Diving Environment
  • Dive Tables
  • Diving Practices
  • Diving Activities
  • Scuba Diving Skills

There are approximately 12 hours of class work and 12 hours of pool work, depending on the progress of the class.

The class culminates with 4 Scuba Dives, which are beach entry dives.

Requirements

Each person must:

    • Take a swim evaluation consisting of:
      1. 200 yard swim with any combination of strokes
      2. 10 minute Float
      3. 5 Minute Tread
      4. Breath Hold Swim
    • Satisfactorily pass a written examination
    • Supply mask, fins, and snorkel, PADI Open Water Manual with tables and Divers Log Book

NOTE: Students without mask, fins, and snorkel are requested to wait until after the first class session before purchasing them. The first session details these items and provides information for selecting appropriate and adequate equipment before class

  • Read the first three sections of text book and answer the questions at the end of each section before the first class meeting
  • Complete the Medical Form.

After Certification, students will be allowed to use the Scuba gear FREE OF CHARGE any time we are doing student dives or when they are participating in higher level and Specialty Classes.

The PADI Shark Awareness course is distinctive specialty created by Lee Moore to educate the diver about sharks, with emphasis on the Atlantic Sand Tiger. This course will also give an understanding into the true nature of sharks and dispel any preconceived notion about sharks.

The PADI Underwater Hunter course is centered on hunting with spear guns and pole spears. The course will also be used to develop the required knowledge and skills for underwater collecting of items such as shells, artifacts, or tropical fish.
